I’ve always enjoyed a hand-sharpened pencil. I once had a job as a finishing carpenter. I woulde use my crude biggie pencils to mark cuts and whatnot. I used a utility knife to sharpen it in the exact same way Rees uses a strop-sharpened pen knife to remove the wood from the graphite barrel of the pencil in this expertly lit demonstration.  Rees is a genius, a perfectionist, and I think it is time for the world to acknowledge there’s a right way to sharpen a pencil, and there’s a wrong way.

No one cares about the wrong way. That’s why you’re here, and that’s why I’m sharing. Because it fucking well matters to Rees that you care about a properly sharpened pencil.
